16 New Fall Shows You're Going To LOVE

While sure summer is just getting started, and its new TV game is pretty damn strong. Network execs are a very forward-thinking bunch, which is why they convened earlier this month in New York City to reveal what's on tap for fall. Each network hosted a presentation called an upfront (or, in the case of digital platforms such as Yahoo and Hulu, a newfront) to provide advertisers and media buyers with tantalizing ad placement opportunities.

It's not all advertiser flattery, though. The upfronts and newfronts have a silver lining for all TV lovers. Over time, they've also become an opportunity for reporters to see previews of what to expect on TV (and streaming platforms) that fall. Any television fan looking for their next favorite show can appreciate this sneak peek.

Here are the highlights from the 2015 upfronts and newfronts. From Supergirl to the return of Neil Patrick Harris, you're sure to find a new show to love.

Supergirl

Network: CBS

The gist: CBS has heard the siren call for more female superheroes and decided Supergirl was the answer. The trailer caught a bit of flack for its similarities to SNL's Black Widow rom-com parody, but we're holding out hope that the series errs more on the side of badass than bumbling, trying-to-have-it-all heroine.

Airs: Mondays at 8 p.m. ET

Limitless

Network: CBS

The gist: The TV adaptation of the 2011 film about NZT, a mind-expanding drug that allows users to unlock the brain's limitless potential. Bradley Cooper, who starred in the film, serves as an executive producer and makes a few cameos.

Airs: Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET

The Muppets

Network: ABC

The gist: Your favorite Muppets are ready for their own, more adult sitcom that mirrors documentary-style shows like The Office and Modern Family. This show follows the Muppets' personal lives and relationships, in ways you've never seen before (and Miss Piggy is dating Topher Grace).

Airs: Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET

The Catch

Network: ABC

The gist: Shondaland's newest show follows a no-nonsense fraud investigator (The Killing's Mireille Enos) whose entire life blows up, once she discovers her fiancé has been conning her.

Airs: Midseason 2015

Quantico

Network: ABC

The gist: Sexy and very secretive FBI recruits attempt to complete the rigorous training program at the Quantico base in Virginia.

Airs: Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET

Best Time Ever With Neil Patrick Harris

Network: NBC

The gist: The showman of our time hosts a one-hour live variety show inspired by the U.K.'s massively successful: Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.

Airs: Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET

Blindspot

Network: NBC

The gist: A woman is discovered in an abandoned duffel bag in the middle of Times Square. Her memory has been wiped, and the FBI can't identify her using facial recognition or her fingerprints. The only clues are the tattoos covering her body, which also call out one FBI agent by name.

Airs: Mondays at 10 p.m. ET

Grandfathered

Network: FOX

The gist: Oh, does it really matter what this show is about when it stars Jesse "Have Mercy" Katsopolis a.k.a. John Stamos? If you must have the plot, here goes: Stamos plays a successful restaurateur, and confirmed bachelor who discovers one day that not only does he have a son, he's also a grandfather.

Airs: Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET

Scream Queens

Network: FOX

The gist: From master of campy horror Ryan Murphy comes this comedy-thriller about a sorority house, and college campus where sisters and students just keep turning up dead.

Airs: Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

Network: The CW

The gist: Has there been an absence of cheeky, self-referential singing in your life since Glee and Galavant went off the air? Did you love that one musical number in (500) Days of Summer? Then has The CW got a show for you (and me, because this is right up my alley).

Airs: Mondays at 8 p.m. ET

Containment

Network: The CW

The gist: A deadly epidemic breaks out in Atlanta, forcing many residents to enter a quarantined area and fend for themselves.

Airs: midseason 2015

Angie Tribeca

Network: TBS

The gist: Rashida Jones stars in this hilarious send-up of police procedurals produced by Steve and Nancy Carell.

Airs: date and time TBD

Samantha Bee's Late-Night Show

Network: TBS

The gist: Former Daily Show correspondent Samantha Bee is getting her own late-night show, and it's about damn time.

Airs: date and time TBD

Difficult People

Network: Hulu

The gist: Comedians Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner search for happiness, and love in New York City. Amy Poehler is an executive producer.

Airs: premieres in August on Hulu

The Pursuit

Network: Yahoo!

The gist: With this new, long-form series, Yahoo hopes to capture the magic of Friends for the Millennial generation.

Airs: date and time TBD

SuperMansion

Network: Crackle

The gist: Superheroes are all the rage right now, but what about those lesser-known, less-successful vigilantes who never quite broke through? Bryan Cranston serves as the executive producer, and vocal star of the stop-motion-animated SuperMansion, which depicts a far less glamorous side of superheroism than you're used to.

Airs: date and time TBD
